3+ Years of Training

Javan Johnson

Professional Basketball, Spain

Joey has helped me navigate the NBA G-League and playing professionally overseas. He's helped me become more in tune with the mental side of sports and life. I would recommend him to anyone seeking high level training, both in the mental game and basketball.

Miles Klapper

D1 Basketball, University of Idaho

I’ve been working with Joey for a few years now, and he has had a major impact on both my personal life and basketball career. He has helped me learn many new mental skills that have allowed me to perform better, become more grateful, and stay process-oriented, even when facing adversity. His experience in basketball allows him to relate to almost every situation I have gone through, so he can give me firsthand advice and mental skills that I can apply.

The System

Get locked in. Stay locked in.

A repeatable system for mental performance and basketball training, built on peer-reviewed sport psychology and refined across thousands of competitive reps.

01

LOCK IN

Focus

Selective attention under pressure. Narrow your world to the next play, the next pitch, or the next rep, then hold it there. This is more than concentration. It is precision.

Attentional Control Theory

02

STAY LETHAL

Composure

Your heart rate spikes, the crowd gets loud, and the game tightens. Great athletes do not need to feel calm. They learn to stay in control.

Arousal Regulation

03

OWN IT

Confidence

Evidence-based belief in your ability to execute. Not arrogance. Not hope. A system built on preparation and competitive reps.

Self-Efficacy & Imagery

04

DOMINATE

Activation

The switch from warmup to competition. Learn to raise your competitive energy on demand and bring it to the game, the opponent, and the moment.

Optimal Arousal States

05

PLAY THE PROCESS

Perspective

Gratitude keeps perspective when the score, your role, or the outcome gets noisy. Then we return to what you can control: preparation, decisions, effort, and response. Every rep has a clear job.

About Joey

Joey Hewitt is a Mental Skills Coach who helps athletes build confidence, manage pressure, and perform at their best when it matters most.
